Great Story from Estonian American
June 26: Saturday
Today a guy named Eric spoke. Hes from America and taught on having a vision. His testimony was so cool. As a young man he cried out to God for the abundant life that Jesus promised. He and those in his church didn’t have it. As a teacher he didn’t make squat for money, couldn’t a family, if he had one, and it seriously depressed him. One day his church wanted to buy some old trashy apartments but the bank wouldn’t sell them to the church. The church had to agree to fix them up and they asked Eric to manage the apartments. Eric agreed and lots of volunteers came to help at first. After a few months all the volunteers quite coming and he was left alone to do the whole job. I think the church even quit paying him. For two years he put like 90% of his money into the project and lived on 10% because he determined he would be a man of his word and finish it no matter what. One night a man called asking for his help while he would be in the hospital. Because the caller had helped his dad years before he agreed to come over and take a look at the job. He needed some home repairs. It blew him away, overworked, teaching durring the day and working into the night alone. Eric knew of many other men that were free but he would help the man. The man said the property next door was for sale and that he should look at it. They went over and looked at it. A widow was selling it and it came with a lot of property. I think it was the man that called Eric for help had also asked him if he was married or why he wasn’t married. It was like a slap in the face, all his money was going into the apartment buildings. But, Eric thought for a moment and had a vision of him running towards his future wife and children who were running toward him in a nice grassy meadow. Her facial features couldn’t be seen. That was all blurry. Now, looking at the house he recognized the meadow as the one he had seen in the vision earlier. In todays money the property would be worth about $500,000 dollars. Then they were asking $130,000. The bank laughed at him and when he called the lawyer selling the estate he was mockingly patronized by him also and said someone else would be buying it. Eric didn’t quit. He called everyone for help. He felt like God wanted him to have it. With help from parents and not living in the house just renting it to pay the morgage he qualified for $80,000. He offered the widow that through the lawyer. A month later he calls and the lawyer had a different additude. The house didn’t sell and the widow said she would come down like $10,000. It was still too much. Each month the widow would come down about $10,000. $80,000 was it with everything on the line. Finally, the widow agreed to $80,000 and the property was his! He realized that he had just made $50,000 in equity. IN ONE DAY GOD RETURNED EVERYTHING HE HAD PUT INTO THE APARTMENTS. He stepped into the abundant life. With that equity and his newfound building experience he took out a loan to build a small house on the other side of the property. When it was about 1/2 built a couple stopped by, fell in love with it, and bought it. Since then Eric has become a fine home builder that knows how to follow God. He’s won all kinds of awards for fine home building and has a sensitive heart in hearing God’s voice. When God says give he gives. When he says sell or buy he sells or buys. God just keeps on blessing him as he is OBEDIENT. I retold the story as he told it to us the best that I could remember it. The key lessons I picked up from him are as follows:
-Dream big and write them down, take it before God.
-Be a man of your word. A man of covenant.
-Bring your 3 biggest hangups or fears to God also.
-God will bless those that are hungry for him.
-God always keeps his word.
-Obey God if you ever want to hear from him again.
-In the end it always was and still is God’s money.
-There is tons of money down here, we just need the wisdom to get it.
-To drive a BMW or a junker cost the same price. What will you do with your life.
-How do you see Jesus? A BMW or a junker? Reliable or Unreliable?
I see what God has been doing in my life. Every experience has been preparing me for this time in my life. All the seed sown will come back to me in many ways. As the Word says, men will heap it into my bosom.
